Here are some interesting facts about voter turnout in by-elections.
Over the past four years there have been 18 federal by-elections in Canada. The average voter turnout was just 31%. The Nanaimo-Ladysmith by-election on May 6th had an exceptionally high turnout of 41%, and Paul Manly won decisively.
The Nanaimo-Ladysmith candidates for the October 21st general election are the same ones who ran in the by-election. Our strongest progressive option is Paul Manly.
